(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 01 SEPT - The US dynasty federation will propose a $ 425 million plea deal to close the lawsuits filed by the victims of former team doctor Larry Nassar, including some of the major stars of the discipline. The Wall Street Journal reports it, specifying that it is not clear, however, how such a sum can be paid without substantial additional contributions from insurance companies and potentially from the American Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
The offer comes five years after the first allegations, according to which Nassar sexually assaulted the athletes under the pretext of medical treatment, and three and a half years after the US federation filed for bankruptcy, overwhelmed by hundreds of lawsuits.
The proposal will be signed by a committee of victims formed under the bankruptcy procedure. The figure is in line with the $ 500 million deal signed in 2018 by Michigan State University, where Nassar - who worked there - abused numerous women and girls. (HANDLE).
