Depression is a familiar phenomenon (Photo: ShutterStock)

In the modern world depression is not welcome and this is because it violates the routine and forces society to deal with a person who radiates loneliness and a bad feeling.

Even the person himself who experiences the depression finds himself dealing with loneliness, misunderstanding and distress that weighs on him.

Many times the same person will want to end the depressive state and ask to take a pill to relieve him but beneath his request for help lies the basic longing to be understood in the world, to feel that there is someone with him in the painful journey he is going through, someone to listen to and trust. Move it to the other side of the river flowing safely and peacefully.

Not all depression is chronic

Not every depression is a chronic depression but untreated depression can become chronic.

Depression should be treated with dedication and generosity, while the pleasant atmosphere, smile, feeling of warmth and patience have a great weight on the success of the treatment.

The solution is not only in adjusting the pill to the problem but in the support and envelope that accompanies the treatment, so if you have previously tried to approach a therapist and the depression problem has not been resolved by raising your hands you may not have found the right therapist.

Two types of depression - internal depression and depression that depends on external circumstances

Depression is the fear in the heart, and it can be an endogenous internal fear, also called "classical" depression, that is related to a person's hormones and internal chemistry.

The classic symptoms of internal depression are manifested in early morning awakening, loss of appetite, heartache, crying and lack of concentration and mood that improves towards evening.

In contrast there is the reactive depression, which is linked to an external event like dismissal, livelihood problems, separation, difficulty in various relationships, depression after surgery, serious illness or grief as a result of the loss of a relative.

Depression resulting from an untreated spotty event can turn into chronic depression.

As a therapist I cannot guarantee that the patient will experience an improvement in feeling, but I can walk hand in hand with him on the common path and support him as he copes with the mental difficulties.

"First Aid" for depression

Depression and anxiety are interrelated and so to deal with depression it is important to relieve anxiety through breaths that relax the body and allow the mind to wander elsewhere. Those who are already dealing with depression can experience this exercise:

(The exercise is written in masculine but aimed at both sexes)

You are at the beach on a Greek island and now you close your eyes and the sun shines in the blue sky, and under your warm sand feet, you look away and notice the forest Towards the quiet strip of beach where you are. The trees, the green leaves, the sound of birds chirping - that's what it is now. You look aside and next to you you meet your best friend or girlfriend, they hold your hand, help you and give you support. Finally you get up together towards the cafe that serves palate (and even kosher) evening food.

In conclusion, we often meet a person who is depressed, sometimes this depression may seem easy, but it is important to know that people tend to hide what is on their hearts, they can smile and even laugh but inside the mind there is a storm. Depressed people want to be understood, to know that there is someone who will be with them in pain, they are not looking for magic solutions, to see the "half full glass" or "think positive" they just want to know that there is room for their pain and that there is someone listening to them.

Do not bother when a person tells you that he is dealing with depression, offer help, find out if there are supportive factors in his life - friends, family, therapist - today it is possible to find a risk of suicide in advance, it is desirable and recommended to consult a professional when suspicion arises - there is what Do on the subject and there is even a possibility to cure.
