(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, 02 SEPT - Lazio in red and Campania back in yellow are the main news for Italy in the weekly update of the map on the incidence of Covid in the EU. Basilicata, Calabria, Marche, Sardinia, Sicily and Tuscany remain colored in red. According to the paper prepared by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Ecdc) at the moment the European regions with the highest number of infections in relation to the population (in dark red) are Corsica and the South of France, and the north-western part of 'Ireland.

Belgium is entirely in red on the updated ECDC map. After Brussels and Wallonia, it is now Flanders to switch to this color. Also in red are France and the Netherlands, while Germany is divided between red and orange.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is in orange. Only a few countries in Eastern Europe still have green zones, such as Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and much of Romania.

These color changes have an impact on travel, explains the Belgian newspaper Le Soir. People returning from a red zone in the European Union who do not have a vaccination certificate, a certificate of recovery or a recent negative PCR test should always be tested upon their return.
