A drunk woman driver drove into a group of people near Rostock, ran over a pedestrian and seriously injured her.
The 53-year-old driver was not arrested because there were no signs of a willful act, a police spokesman said on Thursday morning.
Passers-by were finally able to stop the woman after her dangerous journey.
On Wednesday evening, the woman first crashed her car into a parked car in the town of Rerik and then drove on the sidewalk.
There she crashed into a group of five people.
A pedestrian suffered serious injuries.
Two other people were hit and slightly injured.
The driver rolled on with her car and was stopped after 50 meters by passers-by who stood in front of the car and opened the driver's door.
The seriously injured pedestrian and the slightly injured were taken to hospitals.
A breath alcohol test on the driver showed a value of 2.28 per thousand.
The officers took away the woman's driver's license and are now investigating the risk of road traffic and negligent bodily harm.
Accident near Augsburg ends with seriously injured
A similar accident occurred just a few days ago near Augsburg.
However, the focus was not on alcohol, but probably on the old age of the polluter.
A 90-year-old lost control of her car in the Augsburg suburb of Neusäß on Tuesday.
She hit a pedestrian and seriously injured him.
The accident victim's father could only save himself by jumping in front of the car, as the police reported.
He went into shock.
After catching the 21-year-old pedestrian and bumping into scaffolding and a parked car, the elderly woman maneuvered back and forth several times.
She also hit another vehicle.
An emergency doctor had to reanimate the 21-year-old at the scene of the accident.
"He came to the Augsburg University Hospital at risk of death," said a police spokesman.
The accident driver also came to the university hospital for an examination, and the accident victim's father also received medical treatment.
The fire brigade had to prevent the demolished scaffolding from collapsing.
