(ANSA) - ROME, 02 SEPT - At least six people have died in the last hours in the northeastern United States due to the floods caused by the tail of Hurricane Ida. According to local media reports, one person died in New Jersey, one in Maryland and four in New York City.
The New Jersey victim was a man in his seventies who drowned in Passaic today after being trapped in his car overwhelmed by water.
A few hours earlier, a 19-year-old had died in Maryland when the Rock Creek river broke its banks, flooding numerous buildings, forcing 200 people to abandon about sixty apartments.
Four people died overnight in New York City trapped in the basements of their homes: the victims are a 66-year-old, a woman in her forties, a 22-year-old and another 45-year-old woman. (HANDLE).
