.

This is what emerges from the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation for the week 25-31 August 2021.

As of September 1 (6.12), 86,126,058 doses had been delivered. The change of pace on the supply front is clear: in the last 4 weeks, 15 million doses have been touched against 10.1 million in the previous 4 weeks. "The stocks - explains Marco Mosti, Gimbe operating director - amount to over 7.8 million doses of mRNA vaccines, a number sufficient to accelerate the campaign in this phase that precedes the reopening of schools". 71.9% of the population (42.609.377) received at least one dose (+841.834 compared to the previous week) and 63.9% (37.882.252) completed the vaccination course (+1.195.342). The number of administrations increased in the last week (1,832,949), with an average at 7 days which, after the collapse from over 592,000 on 28 July to 199,000 on 20 August,it started to rise again, reaching 270,000 on 31 August.

87.8% of the over 50 population received at least the first dose of vaccine and clear regional differences: from 92.4% in Puglia to 81.4% in Sicily. While 4.4 million over 50s are partially or totally without vaccination coverage, of which 3.34 million (12.2%) have not yet received even a dose, with significant regional differences: from 18.6% in Sicily to 7.6% of Puglia. In the face of a vaccination trend in these age groups, all the under 50 curves rise: in particular, the 12-19 age group and the 20-29 age group exceeds the coverage percentages of the 30-39 and 40 age brackets -49.
