(ANSA) - ROME, 03 SEPT - The goal of Italy and the EU is "to help the Afghan people and the neighboring countries there, to make it possible to manage together, locally, those who are the migratory flows and which can become a mass exodus towards Europe. We must avoid it and we must do it by supporting UN projects and also Italian cooperation projects ". Luigi Di Maio said at the end of the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Slovenia, before leaving for a mission in the region, in Qatar, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan.
The head of the Farnesina recalled that Italy wants to "convert the money we used to train the Afghan army into development cooperation projects with Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries in the region" to help manage flows from 'Afghanistan.
