The Colombian Navy has discovered a ship loaded with more than $ 60 million worth of cocaine.

The Navy intercepted the boat with more than 1.8 tons of cocaine off the Pacific coast of the Nariño Department in the southwest of the country, according to a report.

This prevented the trade in and consumption of more than 4.5 million doses of drugs in countries in the region.

When the crew of the boat noticed the security forces, the men jumped into the water and fled to the impassable mangrove area.

Just a few weeks ago, another boat with around two tons of cocaine on board was found off the Colombian coast.

It was a semi-submersible - a boat that can at least partially hide under water.

Submarines carrying drug deliveries are repeatedly seized on Colombia's coasts.

The country is considered to be the largest cocaine producer in the world.

For some years now, huge deliveries of cocaine have been intercepted in Germany, which are smuggled into shipping containers from South America by organized crime perpetrators.

In July, customs investigators in North Rhine-Westphalia seized a total of 451 kilograms of cocaine in a freight container.

A year ago, investigators found 1.5 tons in a container in the port of Hamburg.

It was one of the largest quantities ever confiscated there.

Customs officials presented an even larger find in 2019: At that time, they seized 4.5 tons of cocaine with a street sales value of almost one billion euros.
