Anyone who has ever tried to record an answering machine announcement without a slip of the tongue knows that it's not that easy - and that you often need several attempts.

It's just stupid if you don't delete your unsuccessful attempts.

This is exactly what happened to a cinema employee from New Zealand, as reported by the Guardian and the New Zealand Herald, among others.

Recordings of the announcement, peppered with swear words, quickly circulated on social media and caused amusement there.

But what happened?

The Movie Max Cinemas in Timaru had to close due to the current Corona measures, an employee should record the corresponding information for the callers - and that didn't work right away.

"At the moment we need a little cheer"

The first attempt was: “Hello and thank you for calling Movie Max Digital Cinemas, Timaru.

We're currently closed until ... ah damn it. ”And versions two and three also end with wild remarks.

It only works in the fourth attempt.

In the meantime, the announcement has been replaced by a more polite variant.

According to the Guardian, Timarus mayor Nigel Bowen made the cinema owner aware of the recording.

The politician took the matter lightly: "At the moment we need a little cheer," he said.

In times of lockdown, people would enjoy "laughing a little".
