In New Zealand, the supermarket chain "Countdown" removed all scissors and knives from the shelves after the knife attack in Auckland.
"We want all of our employees to feel safe when they come to work, especially in view of yesterday's events," said the security manager at Countdown, Kiri Hannifin.
The supermarket chain is also considering whether the sharp objects should be sold at all, says Hannifin.
As reported by the local media, other supermarkets have also taken knives out of sales.
Police shot and killed a man on Friday who injured a total of seven people, three of them seriously, in a "countdown" supermarket in Auckland with a knife from the store.
According to Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, the attacker was a supporter of the ideology of "Islamic State".
The Sri Lankan man had lived in New Zealand for ten years and had been under surveillance by security authorities since 2016.
