A paraglider from Wesseling near Cologne had a fatal accident in Austria.
According to a witness, the 53-year-old experienced pilot got into trouble on Saturday after taking off from the Emberger Alm in Carinthia.
Despite the activated emergency parachute, he fell uncontrollably in a spiral flight from a height of around 300 meters.
According to the police, the helpers were quickly on the spot, but the emergency doctor could only determine the death of the man.
The recreational athlete took off from an officially approved launch site for para- and hang-gliders in very good flying weather.
Back in August, a vacationer from Switzerland crashed his hang glider in the area near the municipality of Berg an der Drau.
The 60-year-old survived and was flown to Lienz hospital.
