The Government reported that at dawn on Tuesday a new shipment with
200,000 vaccines from the CanSino laboratory
will arrive in the country
, with which Argentina will add 57,407,120 doses received since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
The new batch from China will land at Ezeiza International Airport at 2.45 on Tuesday on Qatar Airways flight QR8157.
In a statement, the Executive informed that these vaccines (the only single doses that Argentina has) will be destined to
"populations with difficult access"
, such as people living on the streets, migrants, refugees and other dispersed groups.
"With this goal in mind, the CanSino laboratory vaccines were reserved, which, when administered in a single dose, reduce logistical barriers," they reported.
This Chinese development is single-dose, and has the particularity of being based on adenovirus 5, the same one that uses the second component of Sputnik V as a viral vector.
So when the local vaccine combination trial began, the Cansino vaccine was predicted to be the candidate most likely to be the natural replacement given the shortage of the Russian vaccine.
According to official figures, 51,604,874 doses have already been distributed throughout the territory.
On August 6, a month ago, the first batch of 200,000 doses of CanSino had arrived in the country, out of the 5.4 million that the Government bought.
The new landing will be added to the 1,736,000 Sinopharm sera that arrived last Saturday from Beijing, on Lufthansa Cargo airline flight LH8264.
Argentina will thus total 57,407,120 vaccines against the coronavirus since the beginning of the campaign.
Of that total,
15,000,920 are Sputnik V
(10,955,260 from the first component and 4,045,660 from the second component).
From the AstraZeneca firm, the country already has 15,594,200 vaccines among the 580,000 from Covishield, the 1,944,000 received by the Covax mechanism, 11,859,200 directly provided by the laboratory, 400,000 donated by Spain and 811,000 by Mexico.
Meanwhile, 22,912,000 are from the Sinopharm laboratory, 200,000 from Cansino and 3,500,000 from Moderna, donated by the United States.
According to the Public Vaccination Monitor,
51,604,874 doses
were distributed
throughout the territory as
of this morning
, while applications total 44,731,271.
In turn, 28,356,254 people received the first dose and 16,375,017 already have the two applications.
