The presence of drugs near the body suggests that the actor of 54 years would have been the victim of an overdose.

He was 54 years old.

The body of Michael Kenneth Williams was found unconscious on Monday in his New York apartment, reveals the New York Post.

The actor, known for his scar crossing his face, had become known for his role, won in 2002, in the American series "On listening" ("The Wire"), in which he plays the character of Omar Little.

The actor's body was found on Monday in his Brooklyn apartment by one of his nephews.

Drugs were found in large quantities at the scene, according to the New York Post, suggesting that he was the victim of an overdose.

"Nothing indicates a criminal act, there is no break-in, the apartment was in order," a police source told the newspaper.

For Michael Kenneth Williams, his role in "The Wire" had been a first consecration, opening the doors to television and cinema.

Barack Obama fell in love with the actor, admitting in a 2015 interview that the robber he played was his favorite serial character.

We had notably seen Michael Kenneth Williams at the movies in "The Incredible Hulk", "RoboCop", "American Nightmare 2" and more recently "Operation Brothers" and "Arkansas".

On television, the actor had played the role of Albert "Chaclky" White in "Boardwalk Empire", "Community", "When We Rise" or even last year in "Lovecraft Country".

It is for his role in this series that the actor was recently nominated for the Emmy Awards in the category "Best actor for a supporting role".
