(ANSA) - BEIJING, 06 SEPT - The German ambassador to China, Jan Hecker, died a few days after taking office in his office in Beijing: the foreign minister in Berlin announced it overnight, without specifying the circumstances.
"It is with deep sadness and dismay that we learned of the sudden death of the German ambassador to China. Our thoughts right now are with his family and the people who were close to him," reads a note posted on the ministry's website. Hecker, 54, had arrived in Beijing in August after serving as Chancellor Angela Merkel's foreign policy adviser. (HANDLE).
