(ANSA) - BEIRUT, 06 SEPT - The UN Humanitarian Coordination Service (Ocha) in Lebanon today announced the funding of 6 million dollars to allow hospitals, medical clinics and medicine dispensaries to remain open for the next three months. operating in a country in economic collapse and which now suffers from a chronic shortage of fuel, necessary to power generators and power plants.
This was announced by the UN humanitarian coordinator in Lebanon, Najaf Rochdi, with a statement in which it is specified that these 6 million aim to indirectly support hundreds of thousands of families deprived of medical assistance in a context of absence of essential services in Lebanon.
These 6 million, says Ocha, are added to the 4 already allocated in recent days by the UN to make up for the lack of water in various regions of the country, brought to its knees by its worst economic crisis in the last 30 years.
The budget announced today will not be renewed after three months, says Ocha, according to which it is the responsibility of the Lebanese rulers to find, with the support of the international community, sustainable ways to overcome the crisis.
