'Freedom should not be invoked to escape immunization' says the head of state who urges us to rigorously sanction us and insults doctors, scientists and journalists (ANSA)

The theme of health as a public good "

calls to social responsibility and in this period to the moral and civic duty of vaccination

. It is the tool that the scientific community has given us very quickly to defeat the virus and is allowing us to overcome its consequences not only health but also economic and social ".

This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the inauguration of the academic year of the University of Pavia.

"Freedom should not be

invoked

to escape vaccination, because

that invocation is equivalent to requesting a license to put the health of others at risk

and in some cases to endanger the lives of others. Those who pretend not to be vaccinated, with the exception of those who he cannot do it for health, and to lead a normal life by attending work or leisure places, he forces all others to limit their freedom, to give up their possibility of recovering in full places and ways and times of life ".

"I cannot but say a word - he added - about the violence and threats that emerge in this period, against doctors, scientists and journalists and people of the institutions,

alarming and serious phenomena that must be firmly opposed, even by sanctioning with due rigor

".

"The economy - he said in another passage of his speech - has restarted, the government has attended and that the data of the economic recovery are of an extraordinary positive nature. This is possible because we are fighting the pandemic with responsible behavior, with vaccination , with prudence that does not conflict with the normality of life ".
