While riding the elevator in an office building in Bochum, a dog owner overlooked the fact that her four-legged friend was not yet in the elevator.
When the door closed and the elevator started in the basement, the animal was pulled up on a leash, as the fire department announced on Monday.
On the ground floor, the woman stopped the elevator, blocked the light barrier and called for help.
While she was holding the end of the leash, her dog was hanging in his harness near the ceiling in the basement.
A witness finally alerted the fire brigade.
Firefighters cut the frightened animal out of its harness and handed it over to the owner.
According to the fire department, the animal was uninjured.
