The works of Rosa Barba and Lara Favaretto, two of the most internationally appreciated contemporary Italian artists, enter the collection of Banca Generali, which is at the forefront of supporting art and culture in the restart. After a year of closure caused by the pandemic, on Monday 13 September, in conjunction with the Milan ArtWeek 2021, the Leone bank will open the doors of the BG Training & Innovation Hub, allowing the public to admire the works, selected by Vincenzo De Bellis in the scope of the BG Art Talent project born in 2018. "I believe it is very important that a private entity such as a bank decides to acquire works by artists, especially if they are from our country, because on the one hand they help their reputation and on the other constitute a concrete commitment to the development of artistic languages ",highlighted the Councilor for culture of the Municipality of Milan, Filippo Del Corno, speaking at the press conference for the presentation of the exhibition. "The works of Rosa and Lara lead us to reflect on the evolution of language and sociality, two peculiar elements of humanity that the pandemic has put to a severe test - added the marketing and external relations director of Banca Generali, Michele Seghizzi - . The hope is that initiatives like this can stimulate food for thought and represent the basis for a strong restart after a strongly negative year and a half ”. The participation of these two artists in the BG Art Talent project "is the testimony of the path taken in these three years to promote the most influential voices, among those of the younger generations, of contemporary Italian artistic production",explained Vincenzo De Bellis, curator of the project and Director of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis (USA). The two works on display are: "Language Infinity Sphere (recording)" by Rosa Barba, a painting in linen print on canvas from 2018, and "Squeezing" by Lara Favaretto, an installation in concrete and iron created in 2014. The first work is the result of a performative act realized through the “Language Infinity Sphere”, a sphere that the artist moves with a unique and repetitive touch in order to create a fragmented text that is fixed on the canvas. The work represents the rebellion of the ego against the rarefaction that increasingly characterizes contemporary language, with relationships mediated by social media and digital. As for the installation, the artist,in order to explore the expressive potential and the double solid and malleable nature of concrete, he pierces it when it is still fresh and stamps it with the mold of other objects. In this way, he freezes his action and his moods. During the three years of the project, Banca Generali and Vincenzo De Bellis brought the works of Italian artists of the caliber of Linda Fregni Nagler, Francesco Arena and Enrico David to the attention of the general public. The two new entries thus complete a cycle of free exhibitions of primary importance for the enthusiastic and non-passionate public.Banca Generali and Vincenzo De Bellis brought the works of Italian artists of the caliber of Linda Fregni Nagler, Francesco Arena and Enrico David to the attention of the general public.
