The fourth wave of Covid-19 continues to decline slowly, with fewer than 11,000 people hospitalized with a Covid-19 infection.

While the students have all returned to school, the epidemic figures will be scrutinized carefully in the coming weeks, some fearing that an epidemic resumption will emerge.

For now, the Covid-19 epidemic continues to decline slowly.

"We have a fourth wave that is developing favorably, with a drop in new cases of 20% over a week," even said Sunday the director general of health, Jérôme Salomon.

Thus, after falling back below the 11,000 patient mark in hospital for a Covid infection last week, the number of patients treated fell slightly with 10,646 admissions on Tuesday, against

10,757 Monday and 11,120 a week ago.

As for the most serious cases, the authorities have identified 2,259 patients admitted to critical care, or 10 more than the day before.

But the numbers are tending to drop: there were 2,292 patients in intensive care a week ago.

At the same time, 120 people died in the last 24 hours, against 103 the day before.

More than 49 million people vaccinated

The vaccination campaign is maintaining its pace, admittedly less sustained. In all, more than 90 million injections have been performed in France. Since the start of the vaccination campaign, more than 49 million people - precisely 49,278,517 - have received at least one injection, or 73% of the total population. Likewise, 45.8 million people - precisely 45,824,933 - now have a complete vaccination schedule, or 68% of the total population.
