After more than a year of controversy between the Government and the opposition, this Wednesday the first
100,620 vaccines
from the Pfizer laboratory against the coronavirus
arrived in the country
.
Under a light drizzle, the cargo arrived at terminal A in Ezeiza around 3:20 p.m. on American Airlines flight AA991.
Minister Carla Vizzotti was present at the airport to receive the shipment.
According to the contract signed with the US pharmaceutical company,
another 480,000 sera
are expected during September
.
Then, for the last quarter of the year, 19.5 million vaccines are expected to arrive.
The Government reported that the September doses will be used to
complete heterologous schedules
-that is, as a second dose of people who received the first component of Sputnik V- and to
start the vaccination of adolescents with risk factors
, depending on availability.

However, as confirmed by official sources from different provinces to
Clarín
, it is most likely that adolescents will have to wait until October to have a first puncture.
It is that the 580,000 vaccines planned for September would be destined as second doses of Sputnik V, which is still missing.
With today's shipment, Argentina reached a total of 57,407,120 vaccines received.
There are 15,000,920 Sputnik V (10,955,260 component 1 and 4,045,660 component 2, some were packaged here), 15,594,200 from AstraZeneca (including Covishield), 22,912,000 from the Sinopharm laboratory, 400,000 from Cansino, 3,500. 000 from Moderna and 100,000 from Pfizer.
According to data released to the Public Vaccination Monitor, up to this morning 51,970,024 doses had been distributed to the provinces, of which 6.3 million remain to be applied.
