Tribute to Jean-Paul Belmondo: the public will be able to meditate in front of the actor's coffin at the Invalides this Thursday evening

The public will be able to gather in front of the coffin of Jean-Paul Belmondo in the courtyard of the Invalides at the end of the national tribute to be held Thursday afternoon, the Elysee announced on Wednesday.

The huge courtyard, in the center of which the coffin will be placed, will be open from 7:30 p.m. to all those who wish to greet the actor, who died Monday at the age of 88.

Previously, a thousand people will be able to attend the ceremony which will bring together, from 4.30 p.m., President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, the family of Jean-Paul Belmondo, his relatives, members of the government and representatives of the worlds of culture and sport.

The Head of State will deliver the eulogy before a minute of silence and the Marseillaise.

The ceremony will be broadcast on giant screens installed on the Esplanade des Invalides.

Usually, the Cour des Invalides is not open to the public at the end of national tributes but it was exceptionally after the death of former President Jacques Chirac, who died on September 26, 2019 at the age of 86, and thousands people had gathered on his coffin.
