Scene from "Star Trek: Picard" trailer: Gift for Trekkies
For Trekkies it is probably one of the highlights of the year: the "Star Trek" day. On September 8, fans of the science fiction universe will celebrate the launch of the spaceship Enterprise on US television 55 years ago. Just in time for the Trekkie holiday, the US streaming service Paramount + announced in a new trailer that the second season of the series "Star Trek: Picard" should start in February 2022. In addition, a third season is planned, announced lead actor Patrick Stewart at a panel at which the trailer was presented.
The trailer for the second season of the series about the »Star Trek« elder statesman Jean-Luc Picard, which appears in Germany on Amazon Prime Video, seems dystopian: The antihero Q (John de Lancie), known from »Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century «Traveled back in time, it says, and turned the world into a totalitarian nightmare.
The third season is to follow in 2023
Picard tells this off-screen (who, by the way, feels "far too old" for such Q stuff, as he once says);
plus pictures of black uniformed figures and a cheering crowd.
The task now is to "repair the past", he continues - in order to "heal our future".
A first season with ten episodes was released in January last year.
A third is to follow in early 2023, as the US film and television portal Deadline reports.
A trailer for the new, animated children's series “Star Trek: Prodigy” was also published on “Star Trek” day.
The trailer for the series, which is supposed to revolve around the adventures of a group of young aliens, is a bit more colorful.
But here, too, a well-known "Star Trek" figure appears: Kathryn Janeway from "Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager" - only, not unsuitable for pandemics, as a virtual avatar.
