(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, SEPTEMBER 09 - "The Taliban round up Afghan journalists from house to house, following a black list on which all people with suspected ties to the previous administration or to the forces led by the United States are seen". This is what was reported by the Easo report, the European Asylum Support Office, on the evolution of the situation in Afghanistan, based on a series of testimonies from journalists and operators of international organizations present on the ground. According to the report, there are still "a very large number of individuals taken aback by the new authorities. To complete this blacklist, italebans would be in contact with local mosques and police offices to receive information on the population".


    "The news situation is also dramatic, over 100 media stopped working last month and dozens of television and radio stations that interrupted their broadcasts or were seized by the Taliban forcing several hundred Afghan journalists to leave the country", explains the report. "The media still operational are working in accordance with the new conditions established by the Taliban but the Taliban's promises of press freedom can only be considered with the utmost skepticism," they add from Easo.


    According to the report, the scarce presence of international press makes available only some news from Kabul maha "completely obscured the situation in the provinces outside the capital". (HANDLE).
