Small and medium-sized enterprises increasingly oriented to providing personnel with protections, able to safeguard their health, but also to make a qualitative leap in the working and personal conditions of women, young people, families and the entire community: according to the results of the Report Welfare Index Pmi 2021 on the state of welfare in the production realities of the country, promoted by Generali, which involved more than 6,000 companies in all production sectors and of all sizes, in fact, "over 64% exceeded the initial level ", and in the space of 6 years the companies" with a high level of welfare have more than doubled, going from 9.7% in 2016 to the current 21% ". With the advent of Covid-19, the owners of the companies have rolled up their sleeves, first of all in the health sector, providing the employed with diagnostic services for Coronavirus (43.8%), medical consultancy services even at a distance (21.3%) and new health insurance (25.7%). At the same time, with regard to working activities, "greater hourly flexibility (35.8%) and new distance training activities (39%)" were given, while in support of employees and their families, "temporary salary increases and bonuses (38.2%), aid for the management of children and the elderly (7.2%) and for the school (6.8%); but also contributions to the external community, such as donations ( 16.4%) and support for the health system and research (9.2%) ".working activity, "greater hourly flexibility (35.8%) and new distance training activities (39%)" were given, while "temporary salary increases and bonuses were established to support employees and their families (38 , 2%), aid for the management of children and the elderly (7.2%) and for the school (6.8%); but also contributions to the external community, such as donations (16.4%) and support to the System healthcare and research (9.2%) ".working activity, "greater hourly flexibility (35.8%) and new distance training activities (39%)" were given, while "temporary salary increases and bonuses were established to support employees and their families (38 , 2%), aid for the management of children and the elderly (7.2%) and for the school (6.8%); but also contributions to the external community, such as donations (16.4%) and support to the System healthcare and research (9.2%) ".as donations (16.4%) and support for the health system and research (9.2%) ".as donations (16.4%) and support for the health system and research (9.2%) ".

Most of these initiatives, says the dossier, presented today at the Eliseo Theater in Rome, are still in progress and for 42.7% of the companies they are "structural and permanent". Involving workers is "decisive" for the success of corporate welfare policies: 40 SMEs out of 100 implement engagement initiatives (such as collective and individual meetings), whose index is directly proportional to the welfare rate achieved (from 21.5% of companies with an initial level at 75.6% of those that have a very high one).

In the opinion of the Country Manager & CEO of Generali Italia and Global Business Lines Marco Sesana, "in this new context still characterized by Covid-19, through the Welfare Index PmI we have observed how companies have acted as a social, as well as an economic and market entity, for their diffusion in the territory and for the proximity to workers and families, giving life to a new community welfare. Businesses have shown that corporate welfare today can and must leave the company. Looking not only at employees and families, but to include and create value for suppliers, territory and communities. The greater number of initiatives undertaken support the priorities of the NRP on the country's major 'assets' with an impact on health, women, young people, families and communities. This today confirms that the welfare,in addition to being strategic for the growth of companies, it will be a lever for the sustainable recovery of the country ", he added in conclusion.
