A comic book with the very first use of Spider-Man went up for auction in the United States for $ 3.6 million.
The booklet with the title “Amazing Fantasy No.
15 «was published in August 1962.
The auction house Heritage Auctions in Dallas, Texas announced on Thursday that it was the most expensive comic book ever to be auctioned off.
The magazine was sold for 12 cents in 1962.
The now auctioned edition is the best-preserved known specimen, it was said.
At first it was not announced who bought it.
With this, Spider-Man beat the record recently set by Superman: An issue of Action Comics No.
1 ”, in which this superhero appears for the first time in a comic book, was also auctioned at Heritage Auctions for 3.25 million dollars.
The issue that has now been auctioned tells the story of the origin of Spider-Man, who is called Peter Parker in civilian life and is not very popular as a bespectacled teenager.
After being bitten by a spider, Peter discovers his spider power and avenges his uncle Ben, who is shot by criminals.
The edition was an unexpected success.
In 1963 Spider-Man got its own comic series.
