(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 10 - Slogans, banners, union flags and choirs against Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the leaders of Ita: the Alitalia workers demonstration started in Piazza San Silvestro, in the heart of Rome and a stone's throw from Palazzo Chigi.

Hundreds protest against the plan of the newco, which provides for the hiring of only 2,800 people, against 10,500 workers of the old company.

An intervention by the CGIL leader, Maurizio Landini, is also expected shortly after 12 noon. All under the watchful eye of the police.

Initially planned under the Chamber of Deputies, the demonstration was moved last night from the Police Headquarters to Piazza San Silvestro.
