It was already indicated, now it is official: "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" is getting a remake on PlayStation 5.
Rumors about the "KOTOR Remake" * have been circulating for several months.
The game has now been officially announced as part of the PlayStation Showcase.
It gets the simple title "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake" and was presented with a short, one-minute teaser trailer.

The original "KOTOR" was released in 2003 for PC and Xbox and is widely regarded as one of the best "Star Wars" games ever. In the official PlayStation Blog, the developers declare that “Knights of the Old Republic Remake” will be released
exclusively
on PlayStation 5
at launch
. Lucasfilm Games later confirmed that the game will also be released
for PC
. It is currently unclear whether the PC version will be launched at the same time. The
developers have not yet said a word
about
an edition for
Xbox
- but this will probably also come after a while. A release date for the remake has not yet been set anyway. The development is still at a very early stage.
BioWare, the developer studio of the original, is not responsible for the remake, but
Aspyr
.
The studio has already reissued other "Star Wars" classics, including "Republic Commandos", "Episode 1 Racer" and "Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy".
They also ported the original "KOTOR" to iOS devices.
The developers are rebuilding the game from scratch using new graphics technologies while remaining true to the core of the story.
Some members of the original development team are also involved in producing the remake.
