The graduation projects presented by the students of the Faculty of Information at the University of Damascus varied, and they came as a result of an effort that lasted four academic years, during which they linked what they learned at the university with the requirements of the labor market, so that their projects would be a gateway that qualifies them to engage in the field of journalistic work.

A number of submitted projects revolved around the design, preparation, implementation and directing of general and specialized magazines with different titles, including “The Euphrates, Al-Hadath, Al-Mashhad, Al-Alam, Angles, Nirvana, Business, Al-Says, Messia, Bims and others.” that interest the reader.

SANA’s delegate met with a number of students who discussed their graduation projects, which consisted of a variety of magazines, among them the student Aya Kahf, who ranked first during her years of study at the university and received the Al-Basel Award for Excellence and Creativity, in addition to being the first at the Syrian level in the general secondary school literary section for the year 2017, where she expressed She expressed her happiness with the completion of the graduation project, which included an economic magazine with an appendix entitled “Business” specialized in economics, money and other topics, stressing that linking graduation projects to the labor market helps the student to enter practical life after years of hard work, fatigue and diligence.

She indicated that she worked to complete this project during the school year, despite the difficulties it had, which she was able to overcome with the strength of her will and determination. She translated it in her project, considering excellence as a cumulative process and the outcome of years of fatigue and effort.

In turn, the student, Sundus Nawras Al-Zarazareh, indicated that her graduation project was a magazine directed at children, which included personalities, competitions, participation by children and young journalists, and stories based on investigations, editorial articles, photos and caricatures to attract the child, pointing out that the implementation of the magazine gained her skills such as expression and formulation of stories directed to the child, stressing that the project Graduation helps the student to translate what he learned during his school years into tangible journalistic work.

Regarding the projects presented, Dr. Muhammad Al-Omar, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, explained that most of the students’ projects were distinguished in the four departments of the college, which are “journalism, publishing, electronic media, public relations, advertising, radio and television,” during which the students tried to benefit from what they learned during their years of study, and apply and implement it during their projects.

Al-Omar pointed to the importance of linking the college with media institutions, as in previous years, media professionals were invited to participate in arbitration in discussing graduation projects, and they chose a number of outstanding graduates to be trained in media institutions to refine their media skills and apply them on the ground, but the Corona pandemic was an obstacle to the continuation of this initiative.

Four years spent by the students on the campus of the College of Information, they concluded with projects that expressed their ideas and plans, and most importantly, they expressed perseverance and effort to enter the practical life with enthusiasm.
