Today, 800 children from different governorates applied for the qualifying test for the programming marathon for young people and adolescents for the year 2021, which is organized by the Syrian Virtual University and the Excellence and Creativity Commission within their project for digital development for young people and adolescents.

The test was conducted over a period of four hours within the approved virtual university centers in the governorates and through its approved examination system, according to a statement by the director of the Lifelong Learning Center at the Virtual University, Saya Google, to SANA, who indicated that it comes as a prelude to the last competition scheduled to be held on the first of next October. Today, for the junior category, from the ages of “8 to 11 years,” while the qualifying test will be held for the juvenile category from “12 to 15 years” next Saturday.

Google indicated that the test aims to assess the skills acquired by participants during the training phase in preparation for the last phase, pointing to the importance of raising general scientific levels and enhancing logical analysis and creative thinking skills among young people and young adults by teaching them scripting and graphical programming languages ​​and providing them with software training in a way that reflects positively on their educational attainment and their global participation.

The software marathon competition is a first stage of achieving digital transformation that serves economic and social development and a foundational stage whose outputs can be benefited from to build a generation of young people. Technology becomes a daily learning tool for it. One hundred thousand children and adolescents across the Syrian geography between 2020 and 2030, with successive steps.
