The Taliban formally hoisted its banner yesterday on the presidential palace in Kabul, with a ceremony that marks the "official start of the government", reports a spokesman quoted by the Guardian.
The flag, white with a verse from the Koran, already placed on the palace on the day of the conquest of the capital, was hoisted by the prime minister, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, spokesman Ahmadullah Muttaqi said.
