One of the most fun ways to explore a new city is through cycling, however, we do not always know exactly what to expect when we get on a bike at an unfamiliar destination.
Many cities in the world differ from each other in the level of friendliness they offer to cyclists - from the nature of the cycling infrastructure, through the weather to the price of the rental itself.
A comprehensive study conducted by the British finance website money.co.uk and published these days, ranks the 40 most city-friendly riders on two wheels.
Each city is assigned a score consisting of a weighting of different indices.
Tel Aviv, managed to screw up to fifth place in the ranking (score of 192 out of 280), and Haifa can also be found on the list (34th place out of 40).
The first place is taken by Copenhagen in Denmark, and the last place by Ljubljana in Slovenia.

Expensive Tel Aviv for riding?
Think again
Along with the fact that Copenhagen, Tallinn and Amsterdam are rated as the most bicycle-friendly cities in the world, the most lucrative destinations for renting bicycles are Zurich in Switzerland and Cluj-Napoca in Romania - where the rental is free.
According to the report, the daily rental price of a bicycle in Tel Aviv is £ 5.11 (about NIS 23). And if that seems expensive to you, try Ottawa in Canada - £ 40.31 (NIS 177).
As for the weather, Tel Aviv took third place in terms of minimum rainy days per year.
In first place is Muscat in Oman, and in second place is Limassol in Cyprus.

And where are the most bike shops?
The cities of Chiang Mai in Thailand and Luxembourg are considered leaders in the ranking when it comes to the largest number of bicycle repair shops.
Singapore, Switzerland and Norway were ranked in the highest places in terms of road safety.
As for this figure - it is interesting to find out that in terms of safety, Tel Aviv is in eighth place, and immediately behind it - Haifa.
In terms of air pollution -
Haifa and Chiang Mai in Thailand were ranked in the worst place, with the highest levels of pollution.
For this reason, Haifa slipped to a particularly low place in the overall ranking.
The authors of the report point out that these two cities will benefit greatly if they promote the passage of residents and tourists for cycling, and reduce the use of the vehicle.
The lowest level of air pollution was recorded in Helsinki, Finland.
