A corona test can currently be done in doctor's offices and pharmacies, but also in test centers. For example, if there is a medically justified suspicion that someone has Covid-19, the state pays for the PCR test. Another corona test carried out by trained employees is the rapid antigen test. Citizens can currently make use of this at least once a week free of charge, as the Federal Ministry of Health informs. But from October 11th it should be over.

From then on, the state wants to cap the additional payment for PCR and antigen rapid tests

, according to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation (BR). The federal government is currently reimbursing EUR 11.50 for rapid tests and EUR 43.56 for PCR tests.

But what are the costs for self-payers if they have to pay for the tests themselves from October 11th?

The exact price has not yet been determined, but

initial estimates have been made.

In Bavaria, for example, the 3-G rule applies: only those who have been vaccinated, recovered and those who have been tested have access to the interior of the restaurant.

That could be expensive for a group.

Self-payers can expect up to 119.80 euros for a PCR test

The price difference between PCR and antigen rapid tests is said to be enormous. "In order to be able to continue to work competitively and economically, the prices for a rapid test will probably level off at around 19 euros and the PCR test will, as now, be available for 79 euros", quoted BR Daniel Fröhler from the private test station in Taufkirchen near Munich. Oliver Urban from the Medicare test station in Regensburg assumes an even more expensive PCR test: “We can only estimate the price:

It will most likely be between 15 and 20 euros for the rapid test and the PCR test will cost 119.80 euros, because the laboratory costs alone are so high. "

The new self-payer regulation has an enormous impact on unvaccinated citizens in particular.

Because under the 3G regulation, only those who have been vaccinated, recovered and tested are allowed access to restaurants, fitness studios, cinemas and other leisure facilities

.

But there are exceptions: For people who cannot be vaccinated or for whom there is no general vaccination recommendation, the state continues to cover the costs of corona tests, as the Donaukurier informs.
