The Municipality of Genoa for the construction of the San Giorgio Bridge, and the Municipality of Milan for the M4 metro, are among the winners of the Pimby Green 2021 awards, awarded every year by Fise Assoambiente (the association of recycling companies) to institutions and companies that stand out for their "culture of doing".

"Pimby" is an English acronym that means "please in my backyard" and is opposed to "nimby" (not in my backyard, not in my garden), the widespread mentality in Italy that blocks great works.

The awards went to the Municipality of Milan for the M4 underground line; the Municipality of Genoa for the construction of the Genoa San Giorgio viaduct in record time; Google Maps and Waze, for intelligent navigation services; RFI Rete Ferroviaria Italiana SpA for the new Naples - Bari high-speed line; to the company IREN SpA for the "FORSU Gavassa" project (Reggio Emilia) for the production of compost and biomethane; Venetian Motorway Concessions for the LIFE PollinAction Project for the protection of pollinating insects; the GEA company for the leachate treatment and removal of PFAS (perfluoroalkyl acids) plant in Veneto; the company Scapigliato srl for the reconversion of the area now occupied by the most important Tuscan landfill; L'Eso Recycling company for the 1st plant in Tolentino (Macerata) for the treatment of sports waste.

The "Communication and Journalism" Award went to Radio 24 journalist Laura Bettini. A special mention was given to the Too Good To Go APP, which allows retailers and restaurateurs to put unsold food on sale at reduced prices at the end of the day.
