(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, 13 SEPTEMBER - The Lutheran Evangelical Church of America, one of the largest Christian churches in the United States with about 3.3 million faithful, has installed its first openly transgender bishop: Reverend Megan Rohrer, who will lead the San Francisco's Grace Cathedral in California, one of 65 church synods, overseeing nearly 200 congregations across a broad area.
"I entered this role because a diverse community of Lutherans from Northern California and Nevada had devotedly and earnestly voted to do this historical thing," said Rohrer, married and with two children. (HANDLE).
