Since Sunday, the famous monument of the capital has been undergoing an artistic “facelift”. 50 m high, the Arc de Triomphe is in the process of being fully "wrapped" by a recyclable fabric in bluish silver polypropylene, which will be fixed, for the last stage, by nearly 3,000 meters of red rope. A project dreamed up by the plastic artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude - now missing who had already “packed” the Pont-Neuf in Paris in the same way in 1985. The installation which took several months of works (and cost 14 million euros, entirely self-financed by Christo's family) should be completed on the morning of September 18. Transformed into a temporary work of art, the Arc de Triomphe will remain packaged for three weeks and will be accessible to the public for the duration of the performance.
