The genomic sequencing of the PCRs of the students of the ORT school in Belgrano produces results with extreme slowness to find out which is the variant that generated the outbreak of coronavirus infections.

Although it is still unknown what the impact of the Delta variant could be in the country, this strain of the coronavirus forced the local health authorities to focus attention on the community of that renowned school.

Confirmation of
the three official Delta cases
so far came Saturday through the Malbrán Institute.
In a statement it was reported that the sequencing study had been carried out in the Virology laboratory of the Ricardo Gutiérrez Children's Hospital, central node of the PAIS Consortium, a group created to study the genetic evolution of the coronavirus and monitor which variants circulate.
The students' positive PCRs were sent to the Children's Hospital laboratory.
There, a partial analysis was made of the spike protein, where the virus binds to the cellular receptor, and it was identified that there was a very high probability that it was Delta.
To complete the study, the samples were referred to the ANLIS-Malbrán institute laboratory for complete sequencing.
In addition, there they also analyze samples of the rest of the infected.
