Our body needs food and fluids in order to survive.

Our work at Walla!

Eating everyday is getting you to feed it in the best and most delicious way.

But what happens when you need to fast?

Although it is only 24 hours and yet when the body is deprived of its stores during the fast, it undergoes processes that can cause headaches, dizziness and weakness, especially for those who are not used to it.

Do not worry, we will not abandon you even in the moments when you need to stop eating (and who like us knows how hard it is).

If you follow a few simple rules before, during and at the end of the fast, we guarantee that you will be able to pass the Yom Kippur fast easily.

Before the fast:

Drink plenty of water:

It is not wise to drink a liter and a half of water a minute before the fast begins. Prepare your exclusive bottle of water in the fridge ahead of time and make sure to drink it all consistently during the day before fasting. You can add pineapple cubes, lemon slices or mint stalks to the bottle to increase the desire to drink.

Give up caffeine:

On the eve of the holiday, avoid caffeine (remind you - cola is included in the definition).

Less spicy:

We love our life and food with a salty, spicy and sweet taste, but be aware that spices and sugar can cause thirst so it is advisable to avoid them in the hours before fasting.

Nourish the body with complex sugars and carbohydrates

: It is recommended during the day and in close proximity to fasting to eat grapes, dates and raisins that will help replenish the available sugar stores in the body. It is also recommended to eat complex carbohydrates like bread, crackers, rice, and pasta in small portions throughout the day until fasting.

Pre-fast meal:

Do not overload:

it is recommended not to overdo the intermittent meal. At that moment it may feel wise for us to hoard more, but in practice it only weighs down on the body. The digestive process "wastes" fluids that we would rather keep for the rest of the fast.

All the nutrients: To

prolong the feeling of satiety in the body, various food components must be combined - vegetables, proteins and carbohydrates. The combination will make it possible to prolong the stay of food in the digestive tract.

Easy-to-digest proteins:

According to Yaniv Fahima, owner of Netach Katsavim, "It is recommended during the day and at the intermittent meal to nourish the body with lean proteins such as chicken, turkey and fish. "Combine lean pieces of beef such as a central shoulder and a simulated fillet, which contribute to the feeling of satiety."

During the fast:

It's time to rest:

True, the roads and empty streets make you want to start walking, but if you'm fasting it's not the time.

Avoid exertion as much as possible, it is best to be in a shady environment and allow the body to be relaxed and calm.

Soothing odor: To

suppress hunger, it is recommended to smell cinnamon, cloves, cardamom or tobacco during the fast, as in the Gabay's synagogue.

At the end of the fast:

Do not push:

do not worry, there is enough food for everyone, and in order to open the fast in the path of creation we will be gentle.

Fluids first:

First we return fluids to our body in a controlled way.

Allow water and a slightly sugary drink like a herbal infusion or sweet homemade lemonade is recommended.

Food:

True, in fasting you dreamed of a spinning shawarma wheel and a triple burger with a pound of fries next to it but this is not the right way to open the fast, keep your fantasies a little longer in your heart.

Start breaking the fast with light foods like cookies (raisins, tishpishti or ribeye with anise) and sweet bread alongside the drink like bolo bread.

Light meal:

After about an hour you can eat a light and not heavy meal like soup and thus the body can recover.

In the Yemenite community, for example, zoom soup is served next to the loaf, in the Moroccans, intria soup with noodles and in the Samaritans - fast Majdara soup.

And there will be an easy fast!
