An 80-year-old man drove his car to a daycare group with five children.
Two boys aged one and a half and two years were injured in the accident in Kaufbeuren in Bavaria, the police said.
There are no seriously injured people, but a child was briefly trapped between a house wall and the man's car.
The two injured boys were taken to a hospital.
According to the police, the driver tried to overtake a car waiting in front of him on the right and drove onto the sidewalk.
There he drove head-on into the group of five daycare children with their supervisors.
The exact cause of the accident initially remained unclear.
There is no evidence of a sudden medical emergency, said a police spokesman.
The 80-year-old was forbidden to continue driving.
He is now being investigated for negligent bodily harm.
