(ANSA) - CAGLIARI, 14 SEPT - The air connections under territorial continuity to and from Sardinia, currently entrusted to Alitalia, will not suffer interruptions due to the termination of the company's activities on 15 October.

The Minister of Infrastructure Enrico Giovannini signed the decree establishing the regime to ensure that the 'onerous' services on the routes from Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero to Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate can continue.


   Pending the definition of a new servicing project - explains a note from the Ministry - on which, after a close comparison, the substantial sharing of the European Commission has already been obtained, the Region of Sardinia can immediately activate the selection, with an abbreviated procedure, of the vector to entrust. flights to and from the island for the next seven months.


   In agreement with the European Commission, the details of the "sudden interruption of the service" provided for by article 16 paragraph 12 of Regulation (EC) no. 1008/2008, which legitimizes the abbreviated assignment procedure.


   The selection by the Region of Sardinia, in line with the indications of Brussels, will take place by applying the new regime of paid services on which the comparison with the European Commission is being concluded.


   In parallel, the activities for the assignment of the ordinary procedure of flight services for territorial continuity over a multi-year period will be completed. (HANDLE).
