Thanks to a clinical platform with artificial intelligence, general practitioners can keep in touch, at a distance, with their chronic patients and are able to have both the signaling of the risk of developing certain pathologies and when it is necessary to review a therapy. The innovation that is helping the clinical world is called Openet, a platform born from a collaboration between Net Medica Italia, Novartis and Ibm Italia that is already used today by more than 500 family doctors throughout the country. The system favors what is called “initiative medicine”, which allows for personalized assistance to be offered, through early diagnosis and remote management, intervening before the pathologies worsen and before hospitalization. An integral part of this new model is the integration between the territory and the hospital, creating a network between general practitioners and specialists. The Net Medica Italia service platform is equipped with a virtual assistant for the doctor, based on Ibm Watson Assistant and provides updated information on chronic diseases available at the moment. Thanks to the integrated applications, GPs can receive an alert when their patient data meets predefined requirements thanks to Novartis medical-scientific expertise, allowing the doctor to evaluate how to intervene. The Openet system is currently used in the management of chronic patients with heart failure and psoriasis. The Net Medica Italia service platform is equipped with a virtual assistant for the doctor, based on Ibm Watson Assistant and provides updated information on chronic diseases available at the moment. "Covid has brought to light the limits of the health care model adopted so far, based on the central role of the hospital - comments Nicola Calabrese, president of Net Medica Italia - revealing new needs for optimal management of patients, and in particular those with chronicity, and consequently new needs for the general practitioner ". For Pasquale Frega, Country President and CEO of Novartis Italia, “digital in the health system can facilitate the evolution from a model centered on the hospital and with a silo logic, to one based on a systemic vision of healthcare”. "In the last year - declares Stefano Rebattoni, CEO of Ibm Italia - technological innovation has shown that it can make a fundamental contribution todeliver quality health services. The central element of this path is the data and information that technologies such as cloud, artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things can make available in a timely manner to all the players in the system ".
