Brazilian football legend Pele is ready to leave the intensive care unit of the São Paulo hospital where he underwent surgery for the removal of a suspected colon cancer in recent days.
One of his daughters, Kely Nascimento, wrote it in a message in Portuguese and English on her Instagram account, accompanied by a smiling, close-up photo of the 80-year-old football star.
"He is fine after surgery, not in pain and in a good mood (annoyed that he can only eat jellies but will persevere!)," Wrote Nascimento. "He will be transferred in the next few days to a room in the ward and in a day or two he will return home", she concluded, thanking those who have expressed their closeness and concern over the last few days. The hospital's latest bulletin, issued Friday, stated that Edson Arantes do Nascimento, better known as Pele, was recovering "satisfactorily" and "actively conversing and showing vital signs within normal limits."
