(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 15 - Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy prime minister of the Taliban government, is hospitalized in Kandahar after being injured in a clash with members of the Haqqani network last week. The Pashtun Times wrote on Twitter citing "a member of the Taliban leader's family".
Baradar "is under the protection of Pakistan and family members are not yet allowed to see him," adds the tweet. In recent days the mullah allegedly had a violent quarrel with the Haqqani in the presidential palace in Kabul after which, Taliban sources reported to the BBC, he would have left Kabul to return to Kandahar where he never appeared in public.
