The number of vaccination breakthroughs has been increasing since the beginning of the corona vaccinations - the RKI reports on this.
In spite of everything, the vaccines offer a very high level of protection.
Kassel - It is already known that the majority of people who are currently infected with Corona * are not vaccinated.
Nevertheless, there are more and more so-called “vaccination breakthroughs”, which means that vaccinated people are also infected with the virus.
Current figures are given in a weekly report by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
Since February 2021, a total of 30,880 people in Germany have been infected with Sars-Cov-2 despite full vaccination protection.
This accounts for 0.05 percent of all vaccinated people.
In the meantime, 62.4 percent of the population have received at least two doses of vaccine.
This comes from the official corona vaccination dashboard of the RKI (status: 15.09.2021).
Corona vaccination breakthroughs: This age group is particularly affected
The RKI defines an infection with "clinical symptoms" that was diagnosed in a fully vaccinated person as a clear vaccination breakthrough.
In the age group of 12 to 17 year olds, around 237 cases have been registered since February, Spiegel.de reports.
A few weeks ago, however, children and adolescents only received a recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission for a corona vaccination *.
Therefore, initially only a fraction of them have full vaccination protection, which explains the low number.
Most cases are in people between 18 and 59 years of age: There the number is currently 23,834 - in those over 60 years of age there have been more than 6809 breakthroughs in vaccinations.

RKI reports: Most of the corona patients on wards remain unvaccinated
The numbers of treated, vaccinated people in clinical intensive care units are comparatively low. According to the RKI, fatal courses of the infectious disease are also rather unlikely. There was not a single death among the young people, in the group of 18 to 59 year olds one person died and in the over 60 year olds 448 cases were reported. The deaths of vaccinated people in connection with Covid-19 make up 2.2 percent of all deaths according to the current status.
Most of the people who have to be treated in the intensive care units of the hospitals, however, are still unvaccinated.
That speaks for the reliable vaccination protection of the vaccine used.
For people over 60 years of age, the full vaccination offers 94 percent protection against hospitalization - for younger people this is even higher.
According to RKI information, the proportion of corona patients is currently increasing.
With around 1,400 cases, the number has increased by 22 percent compared to last week.
The number of new corona infections in Germany is currently increasing again sharply.
