The Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety is currently warning of a ready-made meal that was sold in Germany.

It contains a poisonous substance.

Germany - Hardly a day goes by in the Federal Republic without a food recall.

This time it hits a ready meal with noodles.

The Federal Office warns of questionable ethylene oxide contained in the product.

Recall of ready-made pasta meals in Germany: questionable substance becomes a danger for customers

The current recall specifically affects the “Reeva Instant Noodles Chicken” from SLCO GmbH & Co. KG with best-before dates of June 29, 2022 and June 30, 2022.

As the company announced on Friday (September 10th), inspections found that some of the ingredients in the article contain a breakdown product of ethylene oxide.

A health hazard cannot therefore be ruled out.

The company appeals to consumers not to eat the pasta any more.

Reeva also emphasizes that other courts are not affected by the recall (more recalls and warnings * at RUHR24).

Customers can now return ready meals and get their money back

Customers who bought the product and still have it at home can return it anywhere they bought it.

The price will be refunded.

Reeva's instant noodles were sold throughout Germany, including at Kaufland.

The supermarket chain only had a recall in August that affected a certain type of egg *.

This is why ethylene oxide in food is so dangerous for consumers in Germany

The plant toxin ethylene oxide is causing recalls more and more often in Germany, for example a pasta recall was recently made public at Lidl *.

But the chemical is also found in many other products, such as sesame or locust bean gum.

As a result, there could soon be a mass recall of food * in Germany, as has already been the case in other European countries.

The use of ethylene oxide has been banned in Germany since 1981. In other countries, however, the chemical is still in use and is used as a pesticide. If there are residues of the poison in food, this is not entirely harmless: the substance is suspected of being carcinogenic. *
