Is Monday the Worst Day of the Week?
Together with his team, the industrial psychologist Dr.
Oliver Weigelt investigated in a diary study why people often perceive Monday as the most difficult day of the working week.
For this purpose, the psychologists carried out a diary study with 86 test persons, in which employees were asked about vitality and exhaustion on their working day and their expectations for the following day, among other things.
The result: Contrary to expectations, well-being on Monday does not differ from a Tuesday or Wednesday at all.
The much-vaunted Monday blues could just as easily be called Wednesday blues.
“The
contrast between Sunday and Monday
can mean that the first day of the working week is perceived as the worst day of the week,” explains Weigelt.

Tips against the Monday blues: restful sleep and a positive attitude
The Monday blues seem to be due only to a subjective perception.
But, according to industrial psychologists, we can also do something about this.
Two things in particular should significantly improve the mood at the start of the week: A
positive attitude
, i.e. looking forward to the tasks of the new week, as well as
restful sleep
in the night from Sunday to Monday.
According to the study, if you sleep poorly, you lose the recreational effect of the weekend again.
