(ANSA) - SIENA, SEPTEMBER 15 - The whole city of Siena is transformed into a theater, on October 3, with the 100 songs for Siena, a widespread and choral reading that will give shape to places and characters of the whole divine Comedy. 99 performance stops are scheduled in as many points of the city, for an extraordinary occasion of 'diffused theater'. More than 300 singers are the protagonists, including ordinary citizens of all ages involved in the performance, whose elaboration required months of rehearsals with the director Franco Palmieri. The project, explains a note, took shape through a long path of education and approach to triplets and Dante's imagination to build a mosaic with several voices.
Since June 2021 Franco Palmieri - director, educator and playwright - has accompanied each cantor through online training meetings in reading, understanding and interpreting the text in view of the performance.
This great popular reading marathon will involve the whole city, its squares, historic buildings, churches, gardens, hidden corners. The people of the singers will declaim the entire Comedy simultaneously, with the involvement of citizens, personalities, school pupils, prisoners, groups of friends and entire families, who will accompany the audience from triplet to triplet, from Hell, to Purgatory. , until the landing in Paradise: all together, to 'see the stars' for the final reading in Piazza del Campo at the end of the event.
