Fitch raises its estimates on Italy's GDP in 2021, expecting growth of 5.7%, compared to the 4.8% expected last June.
"This is largely due to very strong second quarter growth" during which GDP "increased 2.7%, above our forecast of 1.4%. A faster-than-expected rebound in activity of consumers after the end of the restrictions was a key factor, "explains the Global economic outlook.
The agency expects the economy to return to "pre-pandemic levels in the second quarter of 2022" in which GDP is expected to grow by 4.3% and then slow to 2.2% in 2023.
