For the dough:

  • 1 packet of vanilla pudding powder

  • 2 eggs (size M)

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

  • 250 g poppy seed fix (poppy seed baking)

  • 200 g cherry jam

For the sprinkles:

  • 125 g wheat flour (type 405)

  • 70 g cold butter

  • 70 grams of sugar

Cake recipe: it's so easy to bake the Saxon cake

  • Grease the baking sheet with a little butter and dust it with flour.

  • For the batter,

    heat the milk in a small saucepan to a lukewarm temperature.

  • Put the flour in a bowl, make a well in the middle and crumble the yeast into it.

    Now put the warm milk and the egg in the well.

    Spread the sugar and butter in flakes around the hollow.

  • Knead all the ingredients into a dough with your hands.

    Put it on a floured work surface and knead it well for at least 5 minutes.

    Then cover the yeast dough and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

  • Then roll out the yeast dough into a rectangle about 32 x 42 centimeters.

    Place it on the baking sheet and lightly press the edges.

    Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest until it is covered.

  • For the filling,

    mix the quark, pudding powder, eggs and lemon zest to a smooth mass.

    Set one third aside, stir the poppy seed fix into the other two thirds.

  • Preheat the oven to 180 ° C top / bottom heat.

    For the crumbles,

    mix flour, cold butter, sugar, salt and cinnamon and rub everything between your hands to create coarse crumbles.
