There are many reasons why the zipper stopped working.
Be it that it is just stuck or bent.
In most cases, the zipper breaks at moments when it should be quick and easy.
You are under time pressure and just want to quickly close your pants or backpack.
A broken zipper is quite annoying.
However, so that you don't have to buy new clothes or the like straight away, there are simple methods of repairing the zipper.

Repair zipper - if it is bent
If the zipper is bent, you can straighten the teeth again with tweezers.
However, caution is advised here.
Make absolutely sure that all
teeth
snap into
one another in the right place
.
Otherwise the zipper can break completely.

Repair zipper - if it gets stuck
If the zipper gets stuck, you can
use
some
detergent as a lubricant
,
for example

To do this, dilute the agent with a little water and dab it over the zipper with a cotton swab.
The slide on the zipper should now be easier to move again.
An alternative to this is
graphite
.
This agent is used, for example, in soft pencils.
So rub the pencil over the connector on the zipper and it should move better again.
But if your zipper is actually over, you can also replace it.

Repairing a zipper: instructions for replacing it
Gently pull out the zipper.
Fix the replacement zipper in the appropriate place with pins.
Open the zipper and stretch it into the presser foot of your
sewing machine
.
The
lock stitch
is sewn on the left side of the zipper from top to bottom until something is in front of the connecting piece.
Note the distance to the teeth here.
This should be one and a half centimeters.
Raise the presser foot and close the zipper.
Lower the presser foot again and stitch from above to the end of the zipper.
Now turn the fabric 90 degrees and continue quilting until you are about half a centimeter from your right teeth.
Now the fabric is turned back 90 degrees to topstitch from bottom to top until you reach the connector.
Raise the sewing foot, move the slider down and complete the seam.
