Nine Neapolitan fans were arrested yesterday in Leicester for a fight that broke out in the afternoon, before Napoli's debut in the Europa League.
Leicestershire police confirmed to ANSA that the nine supporters are still in custody pending trial.
Following the clashes that occurred around 18 local time, in the Millstone Lane area, a Leicester fan, also still detained, was arrested.
During the tumultuous pre-match, two other supporters, an Italian and an Englishman, were arrested and charged with speaking racist insults.
Contrary to what was reported by some local press organs, vice versa, the police denied having intervened with arrests at the end of the match, following the clashes that broke out in the sector that housed the approximately 500 Neapolitan fans who arrived in England. After a dense throwing of objects to and from the host sector, and the intervention of the stadium stewards, the situation slowly returned to calm.
